Regional Water Resources Leader
Regional Water Resources Leader
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced water resources professional to lead the development and delivery of strategic water management programmes across a regional portfolio. This role will provide technical direction, stakeholder leadership and forward-thinking solutions to support resilient, sustainable and compliant water services.
Working across operational, engineering, environmental and planning teams, you will translate regional water resource challenges into practical investment, policy and delivery plans. You will play a key role in preparing for climate change, population growth, changing demand and evolving regulatory expectations, while balancing environmental, social and economic priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead regional water resources planning, modelling and strategic options appraisal.
- Develop and maintain long-term resource strategies, drought plans and resilience programmes.
- Oversee the assessment of supply, demand, operational risk and environmental constraints.
- Provide authoritative advice on infrastructure investment, demand management, leakage reduction and alternative water supplies.
- Build effective relationships with regulators, local authorities, environmental bodies, customers, communities and delivery partners.
- Represent the regional water resources function at senior forums, consultations and industry working groups.
- Manage specialist consultants, budgets, technical commissions and programme milestones.
- Promote evidence-based decision-making, innovation and continuous improvement across the wider business.
About you
You will have substantial experience in water resources planning, water supply strategy, environmental management or a closely related discipline. A strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, hydrology, supply-demand forecasting, drought management and climate change adaptation is essential. Experience of working with complex data, modelling outputs and competing stakeholder interests will be highly valued.
With excellent communication and influencing skills, you will be confident presenting complex technical information to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. You will be comfortable providing clear recommendations, challenging assumptions constructively and leading collaborative programmes in a changing environment.
What is offered
The role offers the opportunity to shape long-term regional resilience, influence significant investment decisions and contribute to the protection of vital water resources and the natural environment. A competitive package, professional development support and flexible working arrangements are available.
