Civil Engineer - Water Resources

We are seeking a Civil Engineer – Water Resources to support the planning, design and delivery of water-related infrastructure and environmental improvement projects. This role will suit a technically capable engineer who is keen to develop their experience across flood risk management, drainage, river engineering, surface water management and sustainable water infrastructure. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors and regulatory stakeholders to deliver practical, resilient and cost-effective solutions.

Key responsibilities will include preparing feasibility studies, technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates; undertaking hydraulic and hydrological assessments; contributing to flood risk assessments and drainage strategies; and supporting the design of culverts, channels, attenuation systems, pumping stations and other water-related assets. You will assist with site inspections, surveys, data analysis, option appraisals, planning submissions and construction support. The role will also involve coordinating project tasks, monitoring budgets and programmes, reviewing technical information, and maintaining high standards of quality, health and safety and environmental performance.

Applicants should hold a degree in civil engineering, water engineering or a related discipline and have relevant professional experience in water resources, drainage, flood risk or civil infrastructure design. Knowledge of industry standards, design guidance, relevant legislation and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS or similar tools would be advantageous. Strong analytical, communication and report-writing skills are essential, together with the ability to manage priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. A professional qualification or progress towards chartership is desirable. A valid driving licence may be required for site visits, depending on project needs.
