Lead Waste Water
An exciting opportunity is available for a Lead Waste Water professional to oversee the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of wastewater treatment and associated process systems. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across day-to-day activities, ensuring assets operate safely, efficiently and in accordance with environmental permits, regulatory requirements and internal standards. This role will involve coordinating operational teams, contractors and technical specialists while maintaining a strong focus on compliance, reliability and service performance.
Key responsibilities will include leading the monitoring and optimisation of wastewater treatment processes; reviewing operational data, sampling results and performance trends; and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, resilience and environmental outcomes. You will investigate incidents, equipment failures and process deviations, implementing effective corrective and preventative actions. The role will also involve supporting planned maintenance, capital projects and commissioning activities, preparing technical reports, maintaining accurate records and contributing to audits, risk assessments and emergency response arrangements. You will promote safe working practices, ensure procedures are followed and provide coaching and guidance to operational colleagues.
Applicants should have substantial experience in wastewater treatment, water process operations or a closely related environmental engineering discipline, together with a sound understanding of biological and chemical treatment processes, sludge management, sampling and regulatory compliance. A relevant technical qualification, such as an HNC, HND or degree in environmental, chemical or civil engineering, would be advantageous. You should be confident interpreting technical information, analysing performance data and making informed operational decisions. Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, regulators and contractors. A proactive approach, commitment to health and safety, and willingness to work flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours support, are also required.
