Water Resources Engineering Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Engineering Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex water infrastructure and environmental projects. This role will involve managing projects from initial scope development through design, permitting, construction support, and closeout, while ensuring that technical, commercial, programme, and quality objectives are achieved. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, regulators, contractors, consultants, and internal technical teams to develop practical, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions.
Key responsibilities will include preparing scopes of work, fee proposals, budgets, schedules, risk registers, and resource plans; coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams; reviewing technical reports, hydraulic models, drawings, specifications, and calculations; and overseeing project progress, financial performance, change control, and quality assurance. You will provide technical and strategic advice on areas such as flood risk management, stormwater drainage, catchment planning, water supply, wastewater, river and coastal engineering, asset management, and climate resilience. The role will also require participation in stakeholder meetings, planning and permitting discussions, business development activities, and the mentoring of junior engineers and project staff.
Applicants should hold a degree in civil, environmental, water resources, or a related engineering discipline, together with significant experience delivering water-sector projects. Professional registration or chartership, where applicable, is desirable. Strong knowledge of relevant design standards, regulations, modelling tools, and project management principles is expected, along with demonstrated experience managing budgets, programmes, risks, and client relationships. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritise competing demands and make sound decisions in a collaborative environment. Experience with climate adaptation, nature-based solutions, digital engineering, or major infrastructure programmes would be an advantage. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to technically challenging projects that support resilient communities and responsible management of water resources.
