Field Engineer I
Field Engineer I
We are seeking a motivated Field Engineer I to support the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of technical equipment and systems at customer and operational sites. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to develop practical experience while working alongside experienced technical professionals.
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure and test equipment, systems and associated components in line with technical specifications.
- Carry out planned maintenance, inspections and corrective repairs to help ensure reliable operation.
- Diagnose faults using appropriate tools, manuals, drawings and testing procedures.
- Respond to service requests and provide clear, professional support to site contacts and colleagues.
- Complete accurate service reports, maintenance records, risk assessments and other required documentation.
- Work safely and follow relevant engineering standards, site procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Escalate complex technical issues and contribute to root-cause investigations and improvement activities.
- Travel to customer and project locations as required, sometimes involving overnight stays.
About you
You will have a practical and methodical approach, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team. You should be comfortable communicating with people at different levels and able to explain technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
A relevant qualification in engineering, electronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related discipline is desirable. Suitable practical experience, an apprenticeship or a strong technical background will also be considered. Familiarity with diagnostic equipment, technical drawings, computerised maintenance systems or structured fault-finding methods would be advantageous.
What you will bring
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and procedures.
- Commitment to quality, safety and customer service.
- A full UK driving licence, where travel to operational sites is required.
In return, you will receive structured training, practical development opportunities and the support needed to build a successful career in field engineering.
