Commercial Plumbing Superintendent
Commercial Plumbing Superintendent
An experienced Commercial Plumbing Superintendent is sought to lead the delivery of plumbing installations across large-scale commercial and construction projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for a technically capable professional who can coordinate site activities, maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
You will supervise plumbing teams, subcontractors and site operations from mobilisation through to completion. Working closely with project managers, construction managers, engineers and other trades, you will ensure that installations are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, building regulations and relevant industry standards.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, organise and supervise commercial plumbing installation activities on site.
- Lead, mentor and allocate work to plumbers, apprentices and subcontractors.
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Coordinate plumbing works with mechanical, electrical, structural and finishing trades.
- Monitor project progress, productivity, materials and labour requirements.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality, compliance and accurate installation.
- Identify and resolve technical issues, delays, variations and site constraints.
- Maintain accurate records, including daily reports, timesheets, inspections and material usage.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring risk assessments and site procedures are followed.
- Support testing, commissioning, defect resolution and project handover.
About you
You will have substantial experience supervising commercial plumbing projects, ideally within complex construction environments such as offices, healthcare facilities, education buildings, retail developments or industrial premises. A recognised plumbing qualification, relevant trade certification or equivalent practical experience is essential, along with a strong understanding of commercial pipework, drainage, water systems and plant-room installations.
Excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills are required. You should be confident managing competing priorities, reading technical information and working collaboratively with colleagues, clients and contractors. A commitment to safe working practices, quality delivery and professional leadership is essential. A valid driving licence and relevant site safety qualifications may also be required.
