Project Engineer - Land Development
Project Engineer – Land Development
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineer to join a busy land development team delivering high-quality infrastructure and civil engineering solutions across a range of residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes. This role would suit an experienced civil engineer who enjoys working across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and planning through to detailed design, construction and completion.
You will work closely with clients, developers, consultants, contractors and statutory authorities to coordinate technically sound, commercially viable and deliverable designs. The successful candidate will contribute to multiple projects, managing priorities while maintaining high standards of technical quality, programme control and customer service.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and review infrastructure designs for roads, drainage, utilities, earthworks and associated external works.
- Produce drawings, specifications, technical reports, calculations and design risk assessments.
- Coordinate designs with architects, planners, structural engineers, utility providers and other project stakeholders.
- Support planning, Section 38, Section 104, Section 278 and other statutory approval processes.
- Undertake site visits, inspections and technical reviews, providing practical solutions to construction issues.
- Assist with project programmes, fee proposals, cost estimates, tender documentation and construction support.
- Monitor design quality, compliance, progress and risks, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Provide guidance to junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes.
About you
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering and have relevant experience in land development, infrastructure or consultancy. A sound understanding of UK design standards, highway requirements, drainage principles and construction practices is essential. Experience with relevant design and modelling software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or similar, would be advantageous.
Applicants should be confident communicators with strong organisational and problem-solving skills. You will be comfortable managing competing deadlines, working collaboratively and taking ownership of your responsibilities. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or progress towards professional registration, would be desirable.
A competitive salary and benefits package is available, alongside opportunities for professional development and career progression.
