Project Engineer – Land Development
An exciting opportunity is available for a Project Engineer to join a busy land development team, supporting the delivery of residential, commercial and mixed-use projects from concept through to construction. This role would suit a technically capable civil engineer who enjoys working collaboratively and is looking to develop their project management experience within a varied and growing environment.
You will be responsible for preparing and coordinating engineering designs, ensuring that schemes are practical, compliant and delivered to the required standards. Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors, local authorities and utility providers, you will help resolve technical issues and contribute to the successful progression of projects through planning, detailed design and construction.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and review infrastructure designs for roads, drainage, earthworks and utilities.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, drawings, calculations and design risk assessments.
- Coordinate external consultants and monitor design deliverables, budgets and programmes.
- Support planning applications, Section 38 and Section 278 highway agreements, and Section 104 drainage approvals.
- Attend design, progress and site meetings, providing clear technical updates and actions.
- Review contractor proposals, respond to technical queries and assist with construction-stage support.
- Identify project risks and contribute to value engineering and design improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate project records and ensure work complies with relevant legislation, standards and client requirements.
About you
You will ideally hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering and have experience in land development, infrastructure or a related consultancy or construction environment. Experience with residential development, drainage design, highways or adoption agreements would be advantageous. Working towards, or holding, Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status is welcomed.
Strong technical, organisational and communication skills are essential, together with proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or equivalent. A proactive approach, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities will be key to your success. In return, you can expect varied projects, professional development opportunities and a supportive working environment.
