Sr. Project Manager, Civil Engineering – Land Development
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced civil engineering professional to lead the delivery of land development projects from initial feasibility through to construction and completion. This role will suit a technically strong project manager who can combine sound engineering judgement with commercial awareness, effective communication and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
You will manage a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and mixed-use development schemes, working closely with clients, consultants, contractors, local authorities and other stakeholders. The position offers the opportunity to influence project strategy, mentor colleagues and contribute to the continued growth of a busy civil engineering and land development function.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design and delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
- Manage project programmes, budgets, resources, risks and quality requirements.
- Oversee the preparation and review of technical reports, drawings, specifications and infrastructure strategies.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, external consultants and construction partners.
- Support planning applications, statutory approvals, Section agreements and other regulatory submissions.
- Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services.
- Monitor project performance, provide clear progress reports and implement corrective actions where required.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and less experienced project managers.
About you
You will be educated to degree level in civil engineering or a closely related discipline and ideally hold Chartered Engineer status, or be working towards professional accreditation. Significant experience in land development, infrastructure design and project management is essential, together with a strong understanding of UK planning, highways, drainage and utility requirements.
Experience using relevant design and project management software will be advantageous. You should be commercially astute, highly organised and confident presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. A proactive approach, sound problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities are key to success. A full UK driving licence may be required for site and client visits.
