Project Manager – Geotechnics, East Link
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead geotechnical activities within a major railway infrastructure programme. This is an opportunity to take responsibility for technically complex work packages that will support the safe, efficient and sustainable delivery of a new transport corridor.
Working across design, construction and client-facing teams, you will coordinate geotechnical investigations, assessments and engineering solutions from early planning through to implementation. You will ensure that technical requirements, programme objectives, quality standards and health and safety expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate geotechnical work packages across multiple project stages.
- Manage consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers, ensuring effective collaboration and timely delivery.
- Review and approve geotechnical reports, calculations, specifications, risk assessments and technical documentation.
- Monitor cost, schedule, quality and progress, taking corrective action where required.
- Identify, assess and manage geotechnical risks, including ground conditions, foundations, earthworks, slopes and groundwater.
- Contribute to design reviews, constructability assessments, procurement activities and technical assurance processes.
- Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders, providing concise technical and project updates.
- Promote safe working practices, environmental responsibility and continuous improvement.
About you
You will be a qualified civil engineer, geotechnical engineer or equivalent, with substantial experience managing geotechnical work in major infrastructure, railway, transport or construction projects. You should have a strong understanding of geotechnical design principles, ground investigation, earthworks and relevant standards and regulations.
We are looking for someone who combines sound technical judgement with strong project management and communication skills. You will be organised, proactive and confident in making decisions, managing competing priorities and working with stakeholders at all levels. Experience of working in multidisciplinary project environments and coordinating design interfaces will be highly advantageous.
What is offered
You will join a collaborative team working on a high-profile infrastructure programme with the opportunity to influence important engineering outcomes. The role offers varied responsibilities, professional development and the chance to contribute to a project that will deliver long-term benefits for communities and the wider transport network.
