Estimator – Vertical Concrete Construction

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support the delivery of vertical concrete construction projects from initial enquiry through to contract award. This role will suit a commercially minded construction professional with strong estimating skills and a sound understanding of reinforced concrete, formwork and associated structural works.

You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders, analysing project information and identifying the resources, costs and risks required to deliver each scheme successfully. Working closely with operational and commercial colleagues, you will help ensure submissions are practical, well considered and aligned with client requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Review drawings, specifications, schedules and other tender documentation.
  • Prepare detailed estimates, bills of quantities and pricing summaries for vertical concrete works.
  • Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors, suppliers and specialist trades.
  • Measure materials, labour, plant, preliminaries and temporary works requirements.
  • Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions and opportunities during the tender process.
  • Work with project and site teams to validate buildability, sequencing and construction methodologies.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and contribute to post-tender reviews and cost analysis.
  • Support negotiations, tender clarifications and the handover of successful bids to the delivery team.

About you

You will have proven estimating experience within reinforced concrete, structural concrete, civil engineering or a closely related construction environment. A strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labour productivity and subcontractor pricing is essential. Experience with commercial, residential, industrial or infrastructure projects would be advantageous.

You should be confident interpreting technical information, producing accurate cost plans and managing several tenders to competing deadlines. Excellent numerical, analytical and communication skills are required, together with a methodical approach and strong attention to detail. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications is expected, while relevant construction or commercial qualifications would be beneficial.

This is an opportunity to contribute to technically challenging projects within a collaborative environment, with scope for professional development and progression.
