Water/Wastewater Project Engineer
Water/Wastewater Project Engineer
An exciting opportunity is available for a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to support the delivery of vital infrastructure projects across the water and wastewater sector. This role will suit an experienced engineer with a strong technical background, excellent organisational skills and a commitment to delivering safe, sustainable and cost-effective solutions.
You will contribute to projects from initial concept and feasibility through to detailed design, construction and completion. Working closely with clients, contractors, consultants and internal teams, you will help ensure that projects are delivered to the required technical, commercial, environmental and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and review designs for water and wastewater treatment, collection and conveyance infrastructure.
- Prepare technical specifications, calculations, reports, drawings and documentation.
- Support project planning, programming, cost control, risk management and change management.
- Coordinate design activities across multidisciplinary engineering teams and external stakeholders.
- Attend site visits, design reviews, progress meetings and construction inspections.
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and handover.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, health and safety requirements and environmental obligations.
- Assist with tender submissions, procurement activities and the preparation of client presentations.
About you
You will ideally hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, water or wastewater engineering, with demonstrable experience in the design or delivery of relevant infrastructure projects. Experience with treatment processes, hydraulic modelling, pipelines, pumping stations or sewerage systems would be advantageous.
Strong knowledge of relevant UK standards, regulations and industry guidance is desirable, along with proficiency in appropriate design and project management software. Professional registration, or active progress towards professional qualification, would be welcomed.
You will be a confident communicator who can build effective working relationships and manage competing priorities. A proactive approach, sound technical judgement and a focus on quality are essential. The role may involve travel to project and client sites, so a full UK driving licence may be required.
