Residential Construction Superintendent
Residential Construction Superintendent
An experienced Residential Construction Superintendent is required to oversee the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of residential construction projects from pre-construction through to completion. This role will suit a confident site leader with strong knowledge of residential building methods, construction sequencing and subcontractor management.
You will be responsible for coordinating daily site operations, ensuring work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, programmes and relevant building regulations. Working closely with project managers, trade contractors, suppliers and inspectors, you will maintain progress while upholding consistently high standards of workmanship and site safety.
Key responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day construction activities across one or more residential developments.
- Plan labour, materials, plant and subcontractor requirements to support programme delivery.
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, resolving issues promptly and maintaining productive working relationships.
- Monitor workmanship, quality standards and compliance with drawings, specifications and building regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections, identify defects and ensure remedial works are completed appropriately.
- Maintain accurate site records, including progress updates, delivery logs, health and safety documentation and inspection reports.
- Lead site meetings and communicate project requirements clearly to all relevant parties.
- Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring risk assessments, method statements and site procedures are followed.
- Coordinate inspections, handovers, snagging and final completion activities.
About you
You will have proven experience supervising residential construction projects, ideally covering new-build homes, refurbishments or developments of comparable scale. A recognised construction qualification or relevant trade background is desirable, along with a strong understanding of health and safety requirements and quality assurance processes.
Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritise competing demands, anticipate potential delays and make sound decisions under pressure. You should be practical, detail-focused and committed to delivering safe, well-built homes on time and to budget.
A valid driving licence and the flexibility to work across active construction sites are required.
