Superintendent
Superintendent
An experienced Superintendent is sought to oversee the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of operational activities across a busy site or project environment. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for coordinating teams, monitoring progress and ensuring that work is completed in accordance with approved plans, legal requirements and agreed standards.
You will provide visible day-to-day leadership, acting as a key point of contact for supervisors, contractors, technical specialists and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will be confident making decisions in a fast-paced environment, resolving issues promptly and maintaining clear communication across all areas of responsibility.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, direct and monitor daily site or operational activities to meet programme, quality and performance targets.
- Lead and support supervisors, employees and contractors, promoting a collaborative and accountable working culture.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, risk assessments, method statements and relevant industry procedures.
- Monitor resources, equipment and materials, identifying potential shortages or delays and taking appropriate action.
- Review work progress, maintain accurate records and provide regular updates to senior management and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning and handover activities where required.
- Investigate incidents, defects and non-conformances, implementing effective corrective and preventative measures.
- Build positive working relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.
About you
You will have substantial experience in a superintendent, site management or senior operational role, ideally within construction, engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing or a similarly regulated environment. A recognised qualification in a relevant discipline, together with a formal health and safety qualification, would be advantageous.
We are looking for a practical and organised professional with strong leadership, planning and problem-solving skills. You should be comfortable interpreting technical information, managing competing priorities and using digital systems to maintain records and report performance. A commitment to high standards, continuous improvement and the wellbeing of colleagues is essential. The role may involve working varied hours and travelling between operational locations.
