Construction Superintendent
Construction Superintendent
An experienced Construction Superintendent is required to oversee the safe, efficient and timely delivery of construction projects from mobilisation through to completion. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for coordinating site activities, supervising contractors and maintaining high standards of quality, safety and programme performance.
You will act as the senior on-site representative, working closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and clients. The successful candidate will be confident managing complex construction environments, resolving issues promptly and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with approved designs, specifications and relevant regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day construction activities across the site.
- Supervise subcontractors, trades and site personnel, ensuring work is properly planned and resourced.
- Monitor progress against the construction programme and implement corrective action where required.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with legislation, site procedures and risk assessments.
- Inspect workmanship and materials to confirm compliance with drawings, specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate deliveries, plant, equipment and site logistics to maintain efficient operations.
- Attend progress meetings and provide clear updates on programme, quality, safety and commercial matters.
- Identify construction risks, resolve site issues and escalate matters appropriately.
- Maintain accurate site records, daily reports, inspection documentation and handover information.
- Support commissioning, snagging, completion and close-out activities.
About you
You will have substantial experience in a construction supervision or site management role, ideally delivering large-scale, technically demanding projects. A relevant construction qualification, such as an HNC, HND or degree, is desirable, alongside recognised health and safety training. Appropriate site management certification and a valid construction skills card will also be expected.
Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills are essential. You will be proactive, commercially aware and able to build effective relationships while maintaining focus on safety, quality and delivery. The role may require travel between project locations and occasional flexibility to meet programme requirements.
