Project Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of engineering projects from initial concept through to completion. This role would suit a technically minded professional who can combine strong project coordination skills with a practical understanding of engineering principles, quality standards and commercial priorities.
Working with internal teams, suppliers, contractors and customers, you will help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required specification. You will be expected to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively with stakeholders and contribute to the continuous improvement of project processes.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate engineering projects from planning and design through to installation, testing and handover.
- Prepare and maintain project schedules, technical documentation, risk assessments and progress reports.
- Review drawings, specifications and calculations to ensure compliance with project requirements and relevant standards.
- Liaise with customers, subcontractors, suppliers and internal departments to resolve technical and operational issues.
- Monitor project costs, timescales, quality requirements and resource allocation.
- Support procurement activities, supplier assessment and the management of subcontracted works.
- Attend site meetings and, where required, provide technical support during installation and commissioning.
- Identify project risks and opportunities, implementing suitable corrective and preventative actions.
- Contribute to lessons learned, process improvements and the development of standard engineering practices.
About you
You will have experience in a project engineering, design engineering or similar role, ideally within a manufacturing, construction, infrastructure or technical services environment. A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience is required. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications, managing documentation and working collaboratively across multiple disciplines.
Strong organisation, problem-solving and communication skills are essential, together with a proactive approach and the ability to work independently. Familiarity with project management software, CAD systems, quality procedures and health and safety legislation would be advantageous. A willingness to travel to project sites and support occasional out-of-hours activities may also be required.
In return, you will receive a competitive salary, professional development opportunities and the chance to work on varied, technically engaging projects within a supportive environment.
