Civil Designer - Water & Wastewater
Civil Designer - Water & Wastewater
We are seeking a skilled Civil Designer to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept through to construction. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative technical team working on a varied portfolio of projects, including treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines, drainage systems and associated civil works.
You will produce accurate, practical and high-quality design information, working closely with engineers, project managers, contractors and other technical disciplines. The role requires strong attention to detail, sound technical judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting programme and quality requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings, layouts, sections and construction details for water and wastewater schemes.
- Develop designs for pipelines, chambers, drainage, roads, earthworks, concrete structures and utility infrastructure.
- Use computer-aided design software to create and update drawings in line with project standards and specifications.
- Interpret surveys, specifications, calculations and other technical information to inform design development.
- Coordinate drawings and design outputs with engineers, environmental specialists, utilities teams and other stakeholders.
- Carry out design checks and contribute to reviews, risk assessments and technical documentation.
- Support site teams during construction by responding to technical queries and assisting with design amendments.
- Maintain organised records and ensure all work complies with relevant standards, regulations and health and safety requirements.
About you
You will have experience in a civil design role, ideally within the water, wastewater, utilities or wider infrastructure sector. A relevant qualification or technical background in civil engineering, engineering design or a related discipline would be advantageous.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D is expected, while experience with BIM processes, drainage design, earthworks modelling or 3D design software would be beneficial. You should be able to read and produce technical drawings, communicate clearly with colleagues and contribute positively within a multidisciplinary environment.
A proactive approach, commitment to quality and willingness to develop your technical skills are essential. Flexible working arrangements may be available, subject to project requirements.
