Geostructural Superintendent
Geostructural Superintendent
An experienced Geostructural Superintendent is required to oversee the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of geotechnical and structural works on a major construction project. This role will suit a practical, technically minded professional with strong site leadership experience across foundations, retaining structures, temporary works, excavation support and associated civil engineering activities.
Working closely with the project management, engineering, commercial and health and safety teams, you will coordinate site operations, subcontractors and specialist trades to ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, programmes, specifications and environmental requirements. You will be expected to provide visible leadership on site and promote a positive culture of safety, quality and accountability.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise daily geostructural and structural construction activities, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standards.
- Coordinate subcontractors, site teams, plant, materials and specialist suppliers to maintain progress against programme.
- Review construction drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans, lifting plans and temporary works requirements.
- Monitor excavation, piling, ground improvement, anchoring, concrete, reinforcement and structural installation activities.
- Identify technical issues, construction risks and potential delays, escalating them promptly and supporting effective resolution.
- Work with engineers and surveyors to verify setting out, tolerances, levels and completed works.
- Complete daily records, progress updates, quality documentation and relevant site reports.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, environmental controls and project procedures.
About you
You will have substantial experience supervising geotechnical, structural or heavy civil engineering works, ideally on complex infrastructure, marine, rail, commercial or deep excavation projects. A recognised qualification in civil engineering, construction or a related discipline is desirable, together with relevant site safety certification.
Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills are essential. You must be confident coordinating multiple stakeholders, interpreting technical information and making sound decisions in a demanding site environment. The ability to lead by example, maintain high standards and work flexibly to meet project requirements is critical.
