Geostructural Superintendent
Geostructural Superintendent
An experienced Geostructural Superintendent is required to oversee the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of geotechnical and structural works on a major construction project. This role will suit a practical and confident site leader with a strong background in foundations, retaining structures, ground improvement, temporary works and associated civil engineering activities.
Working closely with project management, engineering and commercial teams, you will coordinate site operations, manage specialist subcontractors and ensure that works are completed in accordance with approved designs, programmes and quality standards. You will play a key role in maintaining safe working practices and resolving technical or logistical challenges as they arise.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise daily geostructural and associated construction activities, ensuring productivity and workmanship meet project requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractors, site teams, plant, materials and access arrangements to support efficient delivery.
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications, method statements and inspection and test plans.
- Monitor progress against programme milestones and provide accurate updates to project leadership.
- Work with engineers to identify design issues, clarify technical queries and implement practical solutions.
- Ensure temporary works, permits, lifting operations and specialist activities are properly planned and controlled.
- Lead site briefings, toolbox talks and coordination meetings where required.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and quality assurance.
- Record site activities, inspections, deliveries, testing and non-conformances in line with project procedures.
About you
You will have substantial experience supervising geotechnical, structural or heavy civil engineering works, ideally on complex infrastructure, marine, tunnelling, basement or large-scale development projects. A relevant technical qualification or recognised construction site supervision certification is desirable, together with a strong understanding of UK construction regulations and safe systems of work.
Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential. You must be comfortable leading diverse site teams, making sound decisions under pressure and maintaining positive relationships with clients, consultants and delivery partners. A commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement is expected.
