Lead Superintendent
Lead Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced Lead Superintendent to oversee the successful delivery of complex projects from mobilisation through to completion. This is a senior site-based role requiring strong leadership, commercial awareness and a thorough understanding of health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
You will coordinate site operations, supervise construction teams and ensure that works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with approved programmes, specifications and contractual requirements. The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact for project managers, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and client representatives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day site activities, ensuring work is completed to programme, budget and required quality standards.
- Direct supervisors, operatives and subcontractors, promoting a collaborative and accountable site culture.
- Review construction methodologies, risk assessments, permits and method statements before work begins.
- Monitor progress, identify potential delays and implement effective corrective actions.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials, logistics and access arrangements across multiple work areas.
- Maintain accurate site records, including progress reports, inspections, daily diaries and quality documentation.
- Lead toolbox talks, site briefings and coordination meetings, ensuring clear communication at all levels.
- Investigate incidents, resolve site issues and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and project procedures.
- Support commissioning, handover and close-out activities, including the completion of snagging and outstanding works.
About you
You will have substantial experience in a superintendent, senior site management or equivalent role, ideally on large-scale construction, infrastructure, engineering or industrial projects. A recognised construction or engineering qualification, together with relevant site safety training, is highly desirable.
Strong planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills are essential, as is the confidence to lead diverse teams in demanding environments. You should be organised, commercially aware and capable of building effective relationships with stakeholders. The role may involve travel, extended site hours or periods working away from home.
