Superintendent (Ground Up)
Superintendent (Ground Up)
An experienced Superintendent is required to oversee the delivery of ground-up construction projects from initial site preparation through to completion. This role will suit a proactive construction professional with a strong understanding of programme management, site coordination, quality assurance and health and safety.
You will take day-to-day responsibility for site operations, ensuring that work is delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, regulations and agreed programmes. Working closely with project managers, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers, you will help maintain progress and resolve issues promptly.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all on-site construction activities from mobilisation to handover.
- Review drawings, specifications, method statements and construction programmes.
- Plan labour, materials, plant and subcontractor activities to support project milestones.
- Monitor workmanship, quality standards and compliance with design requirements.
- Maintain a safe, organised and professional working environment in line with relevant legislation.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, approvals and the resolution of defects.
- Chair or contribute to site meetings and provide accurate progress updates.
- Identify risks, delays and changes, implementing practical solutions where possible.
- Maintain site records, daily reports, permits, schedules and handover documentation.
- Support commissioning, snagging and final completion activities.
About you
You will have proven experience as a Site Superintendent, Senior Site Manager or similar position, ideally delivering ground-up commercial, residential, industrial or mixed-use developments. A strong technical understanding of construction processes, sequencing and building standards is essential.
Excellent communication and leadership skills are required, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective relationships across the project team. You should be confident making decisions on site, maintaining high standards and working collaboratively to achieve programme, budget and quality objectives.
A recognised construction qualification, relevant site safety certification and demonstrable experience managing subcontractors are desirable. This is an opportunity to take a visible leadership role on complex projects and contribute to their successful delivery from the ground up.
