We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Senior Designer to support the delivery of technically complex infrastructure and water-related projects. This role will involve producing high-quality designs and technical documentation across flood risk management, drainage, surface water, watercourses, reservoirs and wider civil engineering schemes. You will work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, environmental specialists, contractors and clients to develop practical, sustainable and cost-effective solutions from concept through to construction.

Responsibilities will include preparing and checking detailed designs, drawings, specifications, schedules and technical reports; undertaking hydrological and hydraulic assessments; developing drainage strategies and flood risk solutions; and applying relevant design standards, legislation and industry guidance. You will use appropriate design and modelling software to analyse data, test solutions and communicate outcomes clearly. The role will also involve reviewing design information, supporting site investigations and surveys, contributing to technical meetings, assisting with planning and regulatory submissions, and providing guidance to less experienced designers and engineers. You will be expected to monitor design quality, manage your own workload and contribute to the successful delivery of projects to agreed timescales and budgets.

Applicants should have substantial experience in water resources, drainage or related civil engineering design, together with a strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, flood risk and sustainable drainage systems. Experience with relevant software packages, computer-aided design and technical modelling tools is essential, along with the ability to interpret survey, geospatial and engineering data. A relevant qualification in civil engineering, water engineering or a related discipline is desirable, and professional membership or progress towards professional registration would be advantageous. Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills are required, as is the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams. A proactive approach, attention to detail and commitment to technical excellence are essential for success in this position.
