Senior Design Manager (m/f/d) Firestopping Coordination

Reference: ec8i6cirf91n3xoh4mlb

We are seeking a Senior Design Manager (m/f/d) Firestopping Coordination to lead the development, coordination and delivery of firestopping design solutions across complex construction projects. In this role, you will act as the technical point of contact for firestopping matters, ensuring that design proposals comply with applicable building regulations, fire safety standards, project specifications and quality requirements. You will review drawings, technical submissions and design information, identify interface risks, and coordinate firestopping requirements across architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines.

Your responsibilities will include managing the firestopping design process from concept through construction and handover; coordinating with designers, consultants, contractors, manufacturers and site teams; and maintaining clear records of design decisions, approvals, inspections and changes. You will lead design reviews, support the resolution of technical queries and non-conformances, and ensure that approved systems are correctly incorporated into project documentation. You will also contribute to design programmes, risk assessments, technical reports and stakeholder meetings, while providing guidance to less experienced team members and promoting consistent best practice across projects.

Applicants should have substantial experience in firestopping design, passive fire protection, building envelope coordination or a closely related construction discipline. A strong understanding of fire resistance requirements, tested and assessed firestopping systems, penetration sealing, compartmentation and relevant standards is essential. Experience working on major, technically complex or highly regulated construction projects is highly desirable. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications, managing multiple interfaces and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to challenge proposals constructively are required. Relevant professional qualifications or membership of an appropriate engineering, construction or fire safety institution would be advantageous. The role may involve regular collaboration with project teams and site visits, so a proactive, practical and solution-focused approach is essential.
