We are seeking a Senior Project Developer to lead the origination and development of utility-scale energy projects within the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) market. This role will manage projects from early-stage site identification through development, permitting, interconnection, commercial structuring, and readiness for construction or investment. The successful candidate will combine strong market knowledge with commercial judgment, stakeholder management, and the ability to advance multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Key responsibilities include evaluating project opportunities, conducting market and competitive analysis, and developing investment cases, budgets, schedules, and risk assessments. You will lead site control activities, landowner negotiations, environmental and technical diligence, agency engagement, and local permitting efforts. The role will also oversee CAISO interconnection processes, including application strategy, study management, network upgrade evaluation, and coordination with internal and external technical advisers. You will collaborate with engineering, finance, legal, transmission, regulatory, and commercial teams to ensure projects meet development milestones and investment requirements.

The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience developing renewable energy, battery storage, or other power infrastructure projects in California, with a strong understanding of CAISO market rules, transmission constraints, interconnection procedures, and applicable permitting frameworks. A track record of advancing projects from concept to notice to proceed is highly desirable. Strong financial, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to build trusted relationships with landowners, utilities, agencies, consultants, community representatives, and commercial partners. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, finance, environmental studies, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can exercise sound judgment, influence across functions, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
