Project Engineer - Mechanical (Building Systems Design)

We are seeking a Project Engineer – Mechanical (Building Systems Design) to support the delivery of high-quality mechanical building services projects from concept through to completion. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, coordination, documentation and implementation of mechanical systems across a range of building projects, including HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, domestic water, fire protection interfaces and associated services. This role will involve working closely with clients, architects, engineers, contractors and suppliers to develop practical, compliant and cost-effective solutions.

Key responsibilities include preparing calculations, technical specifications, drawings, schedules and design reports; reviewing project requirements and developing mechanical design concepts; coordinating services with architectural, structural and electrical disciplines; supporting equipment selection and system performance assessments; and assisting with tender documentation, procurement and construction support. You will also review technical submissions, respond to site queries, attend inspections and meetings, monitor progress against design intent, and help resolve technical issues throughout the project lifecycle. Ensuring designs comply with relevant legislation, codes, standards, sustainability objectives and health and safety requirements will be an essential part of the position.

Applicants should have a degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering, building services engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant experience in mechanical services design or project engineering. Experience with design and modelling software such as AutoCAD, Revit or similar platforms is desirable, along with familiarity with industry standards, energy-efficiency principles and project delivery processes. Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Professional registration or progress towards chartered status will be advantageous.
