Water Resources and Stormwater Engineer

We are seeking a Water Resources and Stormwater Engineer to support the planning, design and delivery of innovative water management solutions across a range of infrastructure, development and environmental projects. This role will suit a technically capable professional who can combine sound engineering judgement with practical design skills and a strong understanding of sustainable stormwater management.

Key responsibilities will include preparing stormwater and water resources assessments, catchment studies, drainage strategies, flood modelling and hydraulic designs. You will develop and review concept and detailed designs for drainage networks, detention and retention systems, water quality treatments, culverts, channels and related infrastructure. The role will also involve interpreting technical data, undertaking hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, preparing reports, specifications and cost estimates, and supporting planning, approval and construction processes. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including project managers, planners, surveyors, environmental specialists, contractors and relevant authorities, to resolve technical issues and deliver effective outcomes.

Applicants should hold a degree in civil or environmental engineering, water resources engineering or a related discipline, with relevant professional experience in stormwater, drainage or flood management. Experience with industry-standard modelling and design tools, such as DRAINS, TUFLOW, XP-RAFTS, MUSIC, HEC-RAS or comparable software, will be highly regarded. You will have a sound knowledge of applicable engineering standards, floodplain management principles, water-sensitive urban design and regulatory requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential. Professional accreditation or eligibility for accreditation, along with experience coordinating multidisciplinary projects, will be advantageous.
