We are seeking an experienced Wastewater Supervisor to lead the safe, efficient and compliant operation of wastewater treatment processes. The successful candidate will supervise day-to-day activities across treatment, pumping, chemical dosing, sampling and related plant operations, ensuring performance targets and environmental standards are consistently met. You will coordinate operators, allocate workloads, monitor plant conditions and respond promptly to alarms, incidents and process deviations.

Key responsibilities include overseeing routine inspections, maintenance coordination, cleaning and operational checks; reviewing flow, quality and process data; maintaining accurate operational records; and preparing reports in line with regulatory and internal requirements. You will investigate faults, identify improvement opportunities and support the implementation of corrective actions. The role also involves managing contractors and visitors, ensuring appropriate permits and risk controls are in place, and promoting a strong culture of health, safety, environmental protection and operational discipline. You will provide coaching and guidance to team members, support training and competency development, and contribute to emergency response arrangements and operational planning.

Applicants should have proven experience in wastewater treatment, water operations, industrial utilities or a closely related environment, together with supervisory or team leadership experience. A sound understanding of biological and physical treatment processes, sampling practices, chemical handling, process control and relevant environmental legislation is required. You should be confident interpreting operational data, diagnosing problems and making informed decisions in a time-sensitive environment. Strong communication, organisation and record-keeping skills are essential, along with a practical approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. Relevant technical qualifications in wastewater, environmental science, engineering or a related discipline are desirable. The role may require shift work, weekend cover or participation in an on-call rota, so flexibility is important.
