Senior Project Manager - Water Infrastructure - Tampa, FL, US
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex water infrastructure projects in Tampa, Florida. This role will oversee projects from planning and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout, ensuring delivery in accordance with approved budgets, schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. The successful candidate will manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, utility providers, and other stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities include developing project execution plans, schedules, budgets, cash-flow forecasts, and risk management strategies; monitoring progress and taking corrective action when necessary; reviewing designs, specifications, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and project documentation; and leading regular progress meetings and stakeholder communications. You will support business development activities, contribute to proposals and fee estimates, mentor project staff, and promote consistent project management practices. The role will also require identifying potential claims or issues early, negotiating solutions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with applicable environmental, permitting, health, and safety regulations.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or construction engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, along with substantial experience managing water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Experience with treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, conveyance systems, utility upgrades, or related municipal infrastructure is strongly preferred. A proven record of managing project finances, schedules, contracts, and teams is essential, as is familiarity with design-bid-build and alternative delivery methods. Professional registration, such as a Professional Engineer license, is desirable. Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills are required. The ability to manage multiple priorities, travel to project sites, and work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is also important.
