We are seeking an experienced Practice Manager – Traffic Design & Safety to lead a specialist team delivering high-quality traffic engineering, transport planning and road safety solutions. This is a senior role combining technical leadership, people management, client engagement and business development. You will set the direction for the practice, support a positive and collaborative culture, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.

Your responsibilities will include managing and mentoring technical staff; overseeing workloads, resourcing and professional development; reviewing technical outputs; and maintaining robust quality assurance processes. You will provide expert input into traffic management plans, road safety assessments, traffic impact assessments, intersection and corridor design, temporary traffic arrangements, transport modelling and related design documentation. The role will also involve coordinating multidisciplinary projects, managing budgets and programme risks, preparing proposals, and building strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, regulators and other stakeholders.

To be successful, you will have substantial experience in traffic engineering, transport design, road safety or a closely related discipline, together with a relevant tertiary qualification. You will bring a strong understanding of applicable design standards, legislation, safety principles and industry best practice, as well as demonstrated experience leading teams and delivering complex projects. Excellent communication, negotiation, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to balance technical quality, commercial priorities and customer needs. Professional registration or recognised industry accreditation will be highly regarded. Experience with traffic analysis, design and modelling software, and a proven record of developing client relationships or winning work, would also be advantageous.
