We are currently seeking experienced Onshore Wind Turbine Commissioning Technicians for a major wind energy project in Japan. The successful candidates will be responsible for the commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and handover of direct drive wind turbines, ensuring all systems are fully operational and meet project requirements.
Flights and accommodation will be provided by the client.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical and electrical commissioning activities on onshore wind turbines.
- Execute turbine start-up procedures, functional testing, and system verification activities.
- Carry out fault finding and troubleshooting on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control systems.
- Support turbine energisation and grid connection activities.
- Utilise SCADA and turbine control systems to diagnose faults and verify turbine performance.
- Complete commissioning documentation, inspection reports, and test records accurately.
- Verify installation quality and ensure compliance with technical specifications and project standards.
- Identify and rectify commissioning punch-list items.
- Support turbine handover activities to the client and operations teams.
- Maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance at all times.
- Work collaboratively with site management, engineering teams, and fellow technicians to achieve project milestones.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience commissioning onshore wind turbines.
- Strong hands-on experience with Direct Drive turbine technology.
- Electrical and/or mechanical wind turbine background.
- Experience troubleshooting turbine electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Experience working with turbine SCADA and control systems.
- Strong understanding of wind industry health and safety requirements.
- Comfortable working at height and in demanding site environments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good English communication skills.
Mandatory Requirements
- Valid right to work in Japan (visa, work permit, or Japanese citizenship).
- Available to mobilise in October 2026.
- Must be available to work throughout the Christmas holiday period
- Previous wind turbine commissioning experience is essential.
Desirable
- Current GWO certification.
- Valid electrical safety qualifications.
- Previous experience on large-scale onshore wind projects.
- Experience working within international project teams.
