Senior Planner
Senior Planner
We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to lead and coordinate planning activities across a varied portfolio of projects. This is an opportunity for a confident professional to provide strategic advice, manage competing priorities and support the successful delivery of complex programmes within a collaborative environment.
You will be responsible for developing, maintaining and reviewing detailed plans, ensuring that key milestones, dependencies, risks and resources are clearly identified. Working closely with project teams, stakeholders and delivery partners, you will monitor progress, challenge assumptions and provide accurate reporting to support informed decision-making.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and manage integrated programmes using recognised planning and scheduling techniques.
- Track progress against agreed baselines, identifying delays, trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Facilitate planning workshops and coordinate input from technical, commercial and operational teams.
- Assess programme risks, dependencies and resource requirements, recommending appropriate mitigations.
- Produce clear, accurate progress reports, forecasts and management information.
- Support change control processes, impact assessments and recovery planning where required.
- Coach less experienced planners and promote consistent planning standards across the team.
About you
You will have substantial experience in a planning or project controls role, ideally gained within a complex project, infrastructure, construction, engineering or public-sector environment. You should be confident working with senior stakeholders and able to communicate detailed information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong analytical and organisational skills are essential, together with a practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to work under pressure. Experience using planning software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or equivalent systems is required, alongside a sound understanding of critical path analysis, earned value, risk management and schedule control.
A relevant professional qualification or membership of a recognised planning, project management or construction body would be advantageous. In return, you will receive the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, develop your expertise and contribute to a supportive, forward-thinking team.
