Project Engineer
An exciting opportunity is available for a Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of engineering projects from initial concept through to completion. This role would suit an organised and technically minded professional who can coordinate multiple activities, manage priorities and work effectively with colleagues, contractors, suppliers and clients.
You will contribute to the planning, execution and monitoring of projects, ensuring that work is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. The position involves a combination of technical coordination, documentation, problem-solving and stakeholder communication across the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Support the preparation of project scopes, programmes, budgets and technical documentation.
- Coordinate engineering activities between internal teams, suppliers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and assist with the implementation of effective mitigation plans.
- Review drawings, specifications, calculations and technical submissions to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Assist with procurement activities, including obtaining quotations, evaluating proposals and monitoring supplier performance.
- Attend meetings, produce progress updates and maintain accurate project records and reports.
- Support testing, commissioning, handover and close-out activities, including the resolution of outstanding issues.
- Promote a strong culture of health and safety, quality assurance and environmental responsibility.
About you
You will have an engineering qualification or equivalent relevant experience, together with a background in project delivery, engineering coordination or a related technical environment. Experience of working with project schedules, risk registers, budgets and controlled documentation would be advantageous.
Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to interpret technical information and manage competing deadlines. You should be confident using standard Microsoft Office applications and, ideally, project management or engineering software. A proactive approach, attention to detail and the ability to build positive working relationships will be highly valued.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your project engineering career while contributing to varied and technically challenging work. Training and professional development support will be available to help you achieve your longer-term career goals.
