Construction Manager - Water/Wastewater
Construction Manager – Water/Wastewater
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable and commercially aware professional to manage complex construction activities from mobilisation through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
You will take overall responsibility for coordinating site operations, managing delivery teams and maintaining effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders. The role will involve working across live and new-build environments, with a strong focus on health and safety, environmental compliance and high-quality workmanship.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily construction activities across water and wastewater projects.
- Develop and monitor programmes, method statements, risk assessments and construction plans.
- Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors.
- Monitor progress, productivity, costs and resource requirements, taking corrective action where necessary.
- Ensure all works comply with contractual requirements, design information, technical standards and relevant legislation.
- Promote a positive health, safety, quality and environmental culture across all site activities.
- Manage inspections, testing, commissioning and handover documentation.
- Attend progress meetings and provide accurate reports to senior management and project stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve technical, commercial and operational issues promptly.
About you
You will have proven experience in a construction management role within the water, wastewater, utilities or wider civil engineering sector. A strong understanding of water infrastructure, treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations or associated civil and mechanical works is highly desirable.
You should be confident leading multidisciplinary teams, interpreting drawings and specifications, and managing construction activities in a regulated environment. Excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills are essential, together with a professional approach to safety and quality.
A relevant qualification in civil engineering, construction management or a related discipline is preferred. Appropriate site-based training and certifications, such as SMSTS, CSCS or equivalent, will also be advantageous. A full driving licence and flexibility to travel between project sites may be required.
