Electrical PE / EIT (Water Group)
Electrical PE / EIT – Water Group
An exciting opportunity is available for an Electrical Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) to join a growing water and wastewater team. The successful candidate will support the delivery of electrical engineering solutions for treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs and associated infrastructure, working across projects from initial concept through to construction and commissioning.
You will collaborate with civil, mechanical, process and instrumentation engineers to develop safe, practical and cost-effective designs. The role offers exposure to a varied portfolio of municipal and industrial water projects, with opportunities to contribute to both technical delivery and client engagement.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare electrical design calculations, specifications, drawings, schedules and technical reports.
- Design and review power distribution systems, motor control centres, standby generation, transformers, cable systems and earthing arrangements.
- Develop lighting, small power, control and instrumentation interfaces for water and wastewater facilities.
- Support the preparation of tender documents, cost estimates and equipment specifications.
- Undertake site visits, surveys and inspections, assisting with construction support and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, suppliers and clients.
- Review technical submissions, respond to requests for information and help resolve site-based issues.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, industry guidance, health and safety requirements and project specifications.
About you
You will have a degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, together with relevant experience in electrical design. Candidates working towards professional registration, or holding PE status in an applicable jurisdiction, are encouraged to apply. Experience in the water, wastewater, utilities, industrial or infrastructure sectors would be advantageous.
You should be confident using engineering design software and producing clear technical documentation. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to manage priorities and work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment. A commitment to quality, safety and sustainable design is also important.
This role provides excellent scope for professional development, technical progression and involvement in challenging infrastructure projects that support resilient water services.
