Assistant Drinking Water Project Manager
Assistant Drinking Water Project Manager
We are seeking an organised and motivated Assistant Drinking Water Project Manager to support the successful delivery of projects that protect public health and maintain a reliable, high-quality drinking water supply. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their project management career within a regulated utilities, engineering or infrastructure environment.
Working closely with project managers, technical specialists, contractors and operational teams, you will help coordinate projects from early planning through to completion. You will contribute to programme delivery, monitor progress and support effective communication across a range of stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, coordination and delivery of drinking water infrastructure and improvement projects.
- Maintain project plans, schedules, risk registers, action logs and financial records.
- Monitor project progress, costs, quality and performance against agreed objectives.
- Prepare reports, presentations, meeting notes and project documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support procurement activities, contractor management and the review of quotations, designs and technical submissions.
- Help ensure projects comply with relevant health and safety, environmental, water quality and regulatory requirements.
- Identify emerging risks, issues and dependencies, escalating these promptly and supporting the development of appropriate solutions.
- Assist with site visits, inspections, testing, commissioning and project close-out activities.
About you
You will have experience supporting projects, programmes or operational activities, ideally within water, utilities, construction, engineering or another regulated environment. You should be confident working with data, maintaining accurate records and communicating with people at different levels. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential.
A relevant qualification or practical experience in project management, engineering, environmental science, construction or a related discipline would be advantageous. Familiarity with project management tools, risk management and health and safety processes is desirable. Most importantly, you will be proactive, collaborative and committed to delivering safe, sustainable and high-quality outcomes.
The role may involve occasional travel to operational and construction sites, so flexibility and a willingness to work in varied environments are required.
