Project Manager – Pipe

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of pipework projects from initial planning through to completion. This role will suit a highly organised professional with a strong background in industrial, mechanical or process pipework, who can manage multiple priorities while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and customer service.

You will take overall responsibility for project performance, coordinating internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to ensure work is delivered on time, within budget and to the required specification. The position involves regular site-based activity, alongside project planning, reporting and commercial management.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage pipework projects from tender handover, design and procurement through to installation, testing, commissioning and close-out.
  • Develop and maintain detailed programmes, budgets, risk registers and project documentation.
  • Coordinate engineering, fabrication, installation and commissioning activities across multiple workstreams.
  • Monitor progress, costs, resources and productivity, taking prompt action to address delays or variations.
  • Work closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to resolve technical and commercial issues.
  • Ensure all works comply with approved drawings, specifications, relevant standards and contractual requirements.
  • Promote a positive health, safety, environmental and quality culture across project teams and site operations.
  • Prepare regular progress reports, forecasts, handover documentation and lessons-learned reviews.

About you

You will have proven experience managing pipework or mechanical engineering projects, ideally within industrial, manufacturing, energy, water, pharmaceutical or process environments. A sound understanding of pipework systems, fabrication, welding, testing and commissioning is essential, together with the ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications.

Strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills and a practical, problem-solving approach are required. You should be confident leading teams, managing stakeholder expectations and making informed decisions in a fast-paced environment. A relevant engineering, construction or project management qualification would be advantageous, as would experience with recognised project management, health and safety or quality standards.
