Project Manager - Construction
Project Manager – Construction
An experienced Project Manager is required to lead the successful delivery of construction projects from initial planning through to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised professional with strong commercial awareness, sound technical knowledge and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
You will take responsibility for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams, you will coordinate all project activities and provide clear, regular progress updates.
Key responsibilities
- Manage construction projects through all stages, including planning, procurement, delivery and handover.
- Prepare and maintain detailed programmes, budgets, risk registers and project documentation.
- Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and site-based teams to ensure effective delivery.
- Monitor progress, quality, costs and compliance, taking prompt corrective action where required.
- Lead project meetings and produce accurate reports for clients and senior stakeholders.
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts and method statements to identify potential issues.
- Manage variations, valuations, payment applications and commercial negotiations in collaboration with relevant teams.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, building regulations and environmental requirements.
- Support the resolution of technical, contractual and operational challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee commissioning, snagging, practical completion and the final handover process.
About you
You will have proven experience managing construction projects, ideally within a main contracting, consultancy or client-side environment. A relevant qualification in construction management, civil engineering, project management or a related discipline is desirable. Professional accreditation, such as membership of a recognised construction or project management body, would be advantageous.
You should be confident interpreting technical information and contracts, managing competing priorities and making informed decisions under pressure. Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills are essential, together with strong commercial judgement and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Proficiency with project management and reporting software will also be beneficial.
