Superintendent
Superintendent
An experienced Superintendent is sought to oversee the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of day-to-day operations across a busy site or operational environment. This role will suit a confident leader with strong organisational skills, sound commercial awareness and the ability to coordinate people, resources and activities effectively.
You will take responsibility for supervising site teams, monitoring progress and ensuring that work is completed in accordance with agreed programmes, specifications, procedures and applicable legislation. Working closely with managers, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders, you will help resolve issues promptly and maintain clear communication throughout each stage of delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily site or operational activities, allocating labour, plant, materials and equipment as required.
- Monitor progress against planned schedules, identify risks and implement corrective action where necessary.
- Promote a strong culture of health, safety, environmental responsibility and quality across the workforce.
- Supervise employees and subcontractors, providing direction, support and constructive feedback.
- Review drawings, method statements, risk assessments and other relevant technical documentation.
- Maintain accurate records, including daily reports, inspections, timesheets, progress updates and incident documentation.
- Work collaboratively with project and operational teams to manage changes, solve problems and meet agreed objectives.
- Support the investigation of incidents, defects and delays, ensuring lessons learned are communicated and acted upon.
About you
You will have proven experience in a supervisory or superintendent-level position, ideally within construction, engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing or a comparable operational setting. A relevant technical qualification, industry certification or equivalent practical experience is desirable. You should be comfortable interpreting technical information, using digital reporting systems and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong leadership, decision-making and interpersonal skills are essential, together with a practical approach to problem-solving. You will be expected to demonstrate integrity, reliability and a commitment to delivering high standards of safety, workmanship and service. A full driving licence and willingness to work flexibly, including occasional extended hours or site-based assignments, may be required.
