Superintendent
An experienced Superintendent is required to lead the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of major construction and infrastructure works. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for coordinating site activities, supervising subcontractors and ensuring projects are completed in line with approved programmes, budgets and quality standards.
You will act as the senior operational presence on site, working closely with project managers, engineers, consultants and trade teams. The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, sound commercial awareness and the confidence to make informed decisions in a busy, changing environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day site operations from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site personnel to maintain productivity and programme performance.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, schedules and construction methodologies.
- Monitor workmanship, materials and installation standards, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture, including site inspections and corrective actions.
- Identify risks, resolve technical or operational issues and escalate matters appropriately.
- Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, permits and inspection documentation.
- Support planning, cost control, forecasting and the management of variations or delays.
- Lead site meetings and maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders.
About you
You will have substantial experience in a Superintendent, Site Manager or Senior Construction Manager position, ideally delivering complex civil engineering, building, industrial or infrastructure projects. A relevant technical qualification or recognised construction management certification is desirable, together with a strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and construction standards.
Excellent leadership, organisation and communication skills are essential. You must be able to prioritise competing demands, build positive working relationships and maintain high standards under pressure. A valid driving licence and the flexibility to work across project locations may also be required.
What is offered
This role provides the opportunity to take ownership of challenging projects, work with experienced professionals and contribute to high-quality, sustainable outcomes. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered, reflecting experience and capability.
