Superintendent-Mechanical Construction
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent – Mechanical Construction to lead the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of mechanical construction activities across major industrial, infrastructure or energy projects. The successful candidate will oversee site-based mechanical works from mobilisation through to completion, ensuring construction activities are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, programmes, quality standards and applicable legislation.
Key responsibilities will include supervising mechanical construction teams, subcontractors and specialist contractors; coordinating daily activities with engineering, planning, commissioning, safety and quality personnel; and monitoring progress against agreed schedules and milestones. You will review work packs, method statements, risk assessments and inspection documentation, ensuring that work is properly planned and executed. The role will involve coordinating installation, assembly, testing and pre-commissioning of mechanical systems, which may include pipework, rotating equipment, static equipment, tanks, valves, HVAC or associated plant. You will identify technical and logistical issues, implement practical solutions and escalate risks or delays appropriately. Maintaining accurate records, supporting progress reporting, participating in inspections and ensuring effective handover documentation will also be essential.
Applicants should have substantial experience supervising mechanical construction within a complex project environment, together with a strong understanding of construction methods, mechanical installation practices, quality control and permit-to-work systems. A relevant mechanical engineering, construction or trade qualification is desirable, along with recognised health and safety training. You will need to demonstrate proven leadership skills, sound commercial awareness and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure. Strong communication and coordination skills are essential, as is the confidence to work collaboratively with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will be proactive, organised and committed to maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship and environmental performance. A willingness to work on site, travel where required and follow project-specific working patterns is expected.
