You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects involving water supply, drainage, wastewater, flood risk management, pumping systems, pipelines, and associated infrastructure.

Key responsibilities will include preparing calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, schedules, and design risk assessments; undertaking hydraulic modelling and analysis; reviewing existing systems and identifying opportunities for improvement; and supporting the preparation of feasibility studies, options appraisals, and business cases. You will liaise with clients, contractors, regulators, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, while providing technical input during design reviews, construction, commissioning, and project close-out. The role may also include checking design work, mentoring junior engineers, monitoring budgets and programmes, and contributing to tenders and proposals.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water engineering, or a related discipline, together with relevant experience in hydraulic design and project delivery. A sound understanding of industry standards, health and safety requirements, environmental considerations, and applicable legislation is essential. Experience with hydraulic modelling software and design tools, such as InfoWorks, EPANET, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar platforms, would be advantageous. You should be confident interpreting technical data, solving complex engineering problems, and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. A proactive, organised, and collaborative approach is required, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to agreed deadlines.
