OHLE Construction Team Leader
We are seeking an experienced OHLE Construction Team Leader to supervise and coordinate the safe, efficient delivery of overhead line electrification works across rail infrastructure projects. The role will involve leading site teams, allocating labour and resources, and ensuring construction activities are completed in accordance with approved designs, method statements, programmes and quality standards. You will act as a key point of contact between construction personnel, engineering teams, subcontractors and project management, helping to resolve issues and maintain progress on site.
Responsibilities will include planning daily work activities, briefing and supervising operatives, monitoring productivity, and ensuring all works comply with railway standards, relevant legislation and site-specific safety requirements. You will oversee the installation, assembly, adjustment and maintenance of OHLE equipment, including structures, foundations, registration assemblies, conductors, switches and associated components. The role will also require you to inspect completed work, maintain accurate records, report progress, support testing and commissioning activities, and identify potential risks or delays before they affect delivery. You will promote a strong safety culture, conduct toolbox talks, contribute to inspections and investigations, and ensure tools, plant and materials are suitable and properly controlled.
Applicants should have proven experience supervising OHLE, OLE or comparable railway electrification construction activities, together with a sound understanding of rail safety procedures and construction practices. Relevant technical or supervisory qualifications are desirable, as is experience working within possession, isolation and access arrangements. You will need strong communication and leadership skills, the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and confidence making decisions in a demanding site environment. A practical, organised approach, attention to detail and a commitment to quality are essential. The role may involve night, weekend and shift work, travel between project locations, and working at height or in challenging weather conditions. Appropriate rail safety competencies, site access certification and a full driving licence, where required, would be advantageous.
