Director, Construction project management

We are seeking an experienced Director, Construction Project Management to lead the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of complex construction and capital improvement projects. This senior leadership role will oversee projects from early planning and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and close-out, ensuring that programmes are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. You will establish effective governance, reporting and controls while providing clear direction to project teams, consultants, contractors and senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing project delivery strategies; managing budgets, schedules, risks, contracts and change control; and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, standards and health and safety requirements. You will lead the selection and management of external design and construction partners, monitor performance against agreed objectives, and resolve complex commercial, technical and operational issues. The role will also involve reviewing project business cases, presenting recommendations to executive leadership, driving continuous improvement, and building a high-performing project management function through coaching, mentoring and effective resource planning.

The successful candidate will bring substantial experience directing large-scale construction, infrastructure or facilities programmes, ideally within a complex, regulated or multi-site environment. A degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, project management or a related discipline is expected, together with significant experience managing multidisciplinary teams and multiple concurrent projects. Professional certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, chartered status or an equivalent qualification would be advantageous. You will be a confident communicator and strategic thinker with strong commercial judgement, negotiation skills and a proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Experience with design-build, construction management, procurement, contract administration and modern project controls is highly desirable.
