Utility Scale Project Development Manager/Sr. Development Manager [Hybrid]
We are seeking a Utility Scale Project Development Manager/Senior Development Manager to lead the advancement of large-scale renewable energy projects from early-stage origination through construction readiness. This hybrid role will be responsible for managing a portfolio of utility-scale solar, battery storage, or related energy infrastructure projects, ensuring they progress in line with commercial, technical, regulatory, and schedule requirements. The successful candidate will help shape development strategy, identify project risks and opportunities, and coordinate internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include evaluating new development opportunities; supporting site identification, landowner negotiations, and acquisition activities; managing interconnection and transmission processes; coordinating environmental, engineering, geotechnical, and technical studies; and leading local, state, and federal permitting efforts. You will build and maintain relationships with landowners, utilities, regulators, consultants, community representatives, legal advisers, and other project partners. The role will also involve preparing project budgets and schedules, tracking development milestones, contributing to financial models and investment materials, managing consultant scopes and contracts, and supporting commercial negotiations, procurement, financing, and project handover to construction and operations teams.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, environmental studies, real estate, or a related discipline, together with substantial experience developing utility-scale renewable energy or energy infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of site control, permitting, grid interconnection, environmental review, project finance, and development risk management is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate successful project leadership, sound commercial judgment, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment. Experience mentoring team members and working across multidisciplinary groups is desirable. Occasional travel to project sites, stakeholder meetings, and industry events will be required. The position offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, combining remote work with collaboration at an office location and regular site-based activities.
