This is a key role for a practical and commercially aware professional who can coordinate teams, manage competing priorities and drive continuous improvement across the area.
You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities across designated locations, supporting site-based managers and ensuring that operational plans are delivered in line with agreed objectives. The role will involve regular travel between sites, building strong working relationships with colleagues, contractors, clients and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and support site teams to achieve operational, safety, quality and performance targets.
- Coordinate resources, labour, equipment and materials across multiple locations.
- Monitor progress, productivity, costs and programme performance, taking corrective action where required.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and industry standards.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture, including audits, inspections and incident follow-up.
- Provide guidance, coaching and performance support to supervisors and operational staff.
- Work closely with commercial and planning teams to manage budgets, forecasts, variations and delivery schedules.
- Prepare clear reports and provide regular updates to senior leadership.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce risk and increase operational efficiency.
About you
You will have substantial experience in a senior operational or supervisory role, ideally managing several sites or projects within a regulated, construction, engineering, infrastructure or industrial environment. You should be confident interpreting plans, programmes and performance information, with a strong understanding of compliance, risk management and safe systems of work.
Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, together with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. You will be approachable, accountable and capable of motivating diverse teams while maintaining a clear focus on quality and delivery. A relevant technical, management or industry qualification is desirable, alongside a full driving licence and the flexibility to travel regularly.
