Superintendent
An experienced Superintendent is required to provide strong operational leadership across a busy, safety-critical environment. This is an opportunity for a practical and decisive professional to oversee day-to-day activities, coordinate teams and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for maintaining high levels of performance, compliance and service delivery. Working closely with managers, contractors and operational colleagues, you will provide clear direction, resolve issues promptly and promote a positive culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily operations, ensuring activities are properly planned, resourced and completed on schedule.
- Monitor standards of safety, quality, productivity and environmental performance.
- Allocate duties, coordinate staffing levels and provide support, coaching and performance feedback.
- Review operational risks, implement appropriate controls and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Manage contractors and suppliers, checking that work is completed safely and in accordance with agreed requirements.
- Investigate incidents, near misses and operational issues, producing accurate reports and recommending corrective action.
- Maintain clear records, prepare regular updates and contribute to audits, inspections and improvement plans.
- Work collaboratively with senior colleagues to identify efficiencies and deliver agreed operational objectives.
About you
You will have proven experience in a supervisory or superintendent-level role, ideally within a regulated, industrial, engineering, transport, logistics or similarly operational setting. You should be confident managing teams, making sound decisions under pressure and communicating effectively with people at all levels.
A strong understanding of health and safety requirements, risk management and operational procedures is essential. You will be organised, approachable and resilient, with the ability to prioritise competing demands while maintaining attention to detail. Relevant technical, vocational or professional qualifications are desirable, alongside experience of incident investigation, contractor management or continuous improvement.
This role may involve shift work, extended hours or site-based duties. In return, you will have the opportunity to make a visible contribution in a challenging and rewarding operational position.
