Civil Engineer – Land Development
An exciting opportunity is available for a Civil Engineer specialising in Land Development to join a collaborative and growing technical team. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and delivery of residential, commercial and mixed-use development projects, working with clients, architects, planners, surveyors, contractors and statutory authorities to achieve practical, compliant and commercially viable solutions.
Responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing engineering designs for roads, drainage, earthworks, utilities and associated infrastructure; producing technical reports, specifications, calculations and construction information; and supporting projects from initial feasibility and planning through to detailed design, approval and construction. You will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, attend design and progress meetings, respond to technical queries, review drawings and submissions, and provide engineering support during construction. The role may also involve undertaking site inspections, managing project deliverables, monitoring programmes and budgets, and mentoring less experienced colleagues where appropriate.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering and have relevant experience in land development, infrastructure or a related consultancy environment. A sound understanding of UK design standards, planning and approval processes, sustainable drainage systems, highway layouts, flood risk and utility coordination is essential. Experience preparing Section 278, Section 38 and Section 104 submissions would be advantageous. You should be confident using AutoCAD and civil engineering design software, with familiarity with drainage modelling packages and design standards such as the appropriate national guidance. Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are required, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or active progress towards professional membership, would be desirable. A full driving licence may be required for site visits.
