Water Resources Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Project Manager to lead the planning, delivery, and successful completion of water resources and civil infrastructure projects. This role will oversee projects from feasibility and concept development through design, approvals, construction, and close-out, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required technical and environmental standards. Projects may include flood risk management, drainage, stormwater, water supply, catchment planning, river and coastal works, and related infrastructure.

You will manage multidisciplinary project teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders while maintaining clear communication throughout the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include preparing scopes, programmes, budgets, procurement documentation, risk registers, and progress reports; coordinating technical investigations and design reviews; monitoring costs, schedules, quality, health and safety, and environmental performance; and identifying and resolving issues before they affect delivery. You will also support planning and regulatory approvals, contribute to business development, prepare fee proposals and tenders, and build productive relationships with clients, authorities, communities, and delivery partners.

Applicants should have a relevant degree or professional qualification in civil engineering, water resources engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline, together with substantial experience managing water or civil infrastructure projects. Professional registration or chartered status is desirable. You will bring strong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, drainage, flood risk, water management, or associated engineering practices, as well as experience with project controls, contract administration, procurement, and applicable legislation and standards. Excellent leadership, commercial awareness, written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills are essential. The ability to manage competing priorities, work collaboratively across disciplines, and make sound decisions in a changing environment will be highly valued.
