Water/Wastewater Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from initial planning through to completion. The role will involve managing projects across water supply, wastewater treatment, sewerage, drainage, pumping stations, pipelines and associated civil engineering works. You will be responsible for establishing project objectives, programmes, budgets and delivery strategies, while ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, on time and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities will include coordinating multidisciplinary design and construction teams, consultants, contractors and stakeholders; managing procurement, contracts, resources, risks, changes and project reporting; and monitoring progress against agreed cost, schedule and performance targets. You will review technical documentation, oversee design development, support planning and approvals, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, environmental requirements and health and safety procedures. The role will also require effective communication with clients and project partners, identification and resolution of technical or commercial issues, and the preparation of regular progress updates for senior management. You may also contribute to business development, tender preparation, project forecasting and the continuous improvement of delivery processes.
Applicants should have proven project management experience within the water, wastewater or wider infrastructure sector, together with a relevant degree or professional qualification in civil engineering, construction management or a related discipline. Experience managing multidisciplinary projects, budgets, programmes, contracts and supply chains is essential. Strong knowledge of project controls, risk management, quality assurance and health and safety practices is required, as is the ability to interpret technical designs and construction information. Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills are expected. A recognised project management or engineering accreditation would be advantageous. The successful candidate will be organised, commercially aware and confident working independently while building effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
