Estimator, Drywall
Estimator, Drywall
An experienced Estimator, Drywall is required to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for drywall, partitioning, ceilings and associated interior finishing works. This role will suit a commercially aware construction professional who can interpret technical information, assess project requirements and produce detailed tenders within agreed timescales.
You will review drawings, specifications, schedules and scope documents to identify the materials, labour, plant and specialist services required for each project. Working closely with project managers, suppliers, subcontractors and other stakeholders, you will obtain quotations, evaluate costs and highlight any commercial risks, exclusions or potential savings.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates, quotations and tender submissions for drywall and interior fit-out projects.
- Measure quantities from drawings and specifications using relevant estimating methods and software.
- Request, compare and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Assess labour, material, access, wastage and installation costs to ensure accurate pricing.
- Identify variations, omissions, design discrepancies and commercial risks before submission.
- Maintain clear records of tender documents, assumptions, revisions and cost breakdowns.
- Support handover from pre-construction to delivery teams, ensuring budgets and scope are understood.
- Keep informed about market rates, product developments, building regulations and industry standards.
About you
You will have previous estimating experience within drywall, dry lining, partitioning, suspended ceilings, interiors or a related construction discipline. Strong knowledge of materials, installation methods and subcontractor pricing is essential, along with the ability to read architectural and technical drawings confidently.
Excellent numerical, analytical and organisational skills are required. You should be comfortable managing multiple tenders, working to tight deadlines and communicating clearly with both technical and commercial audiences. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office is desirable, while experience with digital take-off tools would be advantageous.
A relevant construction, quantity surveying or commercial qualification is welcomed but not essential where practical experience can be demonstrated. The successful candidate will bring accuracy, integrity, commercial judgement and a proactive approach to every tender.
